Discovery Platform
Using muon scanning technology to isolate and identify contraband cargo.

Role: Co-Designer with Lydia Chang
Creative Director: Peter McNulty
The Challenge
Old and outdated software interface that is complicated and clunky to use. Simplifying the experience to make it more engaging to use and understand, allowing the officers with very limited time to find and seize illegal substances within shipping containers and vehicles. Phase 2 was a web portal to manage the teams and the scanners.
Outcome
We delivered final designs for the client software, and web portal, including a design system that their developers can work from to build the new experience for their customers.
Role
I was one of two designers on the project collaborating closely with the client leadership and engineering teams.
Starting Point
The initial team did many interviews with key stake holders and real users of the software. They arrived at 2 main personas as a starting point for a total redesign of the experience: CBP Officer and Image Analyst.
Wireframes/prototypes
We worked with quick turnarounds on an aggressive schedule, wire framing and prototypes that we evaluated in collaborative sessions directly with client leadership and development teams.

This resulted in high fidelity designs rapidly which led to our final solution below:
Management Portal
We also designed a web portal to manage operators and the equipment which requires constant monitoring for errors.
Permissions Site Map
To understand the visibility of different parts of the portal I mapped the users to permissions.
